February 7th ArtTalk300 Years of American Art

Wallraf Richartz Museum Köln

What a great response! Over 30 Arttalkers participated in the doodle survey. Thank you for your “ticks”!

The favorite is clearly February 7th 2019. So be it!

The Wallraf-Richartz-Museum is presenting a survey exhibition of U.S. Art from 1650 to 1950! Our February ArtTalk will focus on a selection of treasured painting and sculptures. The show presents an extensive range of works from the Colonial period, to the masters of American Realism and concludes with examples of abstract expressionism. The Wallraf exhibition titled “Once Upon a Time in America” is made up of about 130 loaned works from well-known collections and museums in the United States and Europe. The exhibition will be shown exclusively in Cologne. Come join us on February 7th to enjoy well known treasures and explore lesser-known masterpieces.

And what about making this a night of American art and talk? Who would be up for dinner at the Hard Rock Café after the ArtTalk? There we can digest what we’ve seen while munching on some “typical” American cuisine.

Please let me know when you sign up for the ArtTalk if you’re coming for dinner so I can reserve the correct table size. If you have to cancel before the Feb. 7th and you’re signed up, write me so I can move up someone from the waiting list.

One last thing; we should finish around 19 h so we don’t collide with the public tours, so be early at the Wallraf so you can store away your bags and coats. Then we can start our ArtTalk on time. Are you interested in joining me to explore? Get to know American artists? There are some real pearls to discover in this show, so come join us!

Artful wishes and a good dose of inspiration!
Karla
