Museum Ludwig

Dear ArtTalkers,

This is your “last” friendly nudge 🤗 our next ArtTalk on September 4 is coming up fast!

We’ll wander the Ludwig Museum, pausing at sculptural masterpieces that invite us to see space and ourselves in new ways.

One highlight: the hauntingly familiar figures of George Segal. Using simple plaster casts, he captured the quiet dignity of everyday people in ordinary scenes, subway stations, diners, street corners. His sculptures remind us that art is not only about heroes or myths, but also about us.

Segal once said:

“I like to take ordinary people and make them monumental.”

💡 That’s the essence of sculpture, shifting our perception, inviting us to walk around, and to feel presence in a way no painting can.

The ArtTalk spots are filling; this is your chance to join us for this journey through the entire collection. Afterward, we’ll share thoughts over some kind of refreshment since ArtTalks are more than tours — they’re a growing community. Every time we meet, we connect, exchange perspectives, and spark ideas that stay with us long after the museum doors close.

“After two hours, you feel connected… a new kind of community emerges.”

— ArtTalk participant, June 2025

👉 And if you can’t make this one, save the date: November 6 for the special show “5 Freunde” coat the famous Museum Ludwig in Kölle am Rhein.

Artfully yours, Karla Schlaepfer
