ArtTalk Summer Newsletter and Save the Date!September 1st, 2022

Reading time: 2 minutes

Dear ArtTalkers!

Our last ArtTalk was on June 1 in the beautiful Isamu Noguchi retrospective in the Museum Ludwig! What an incredible scope of interdisciplinary and insightful artistic work. If you missed it, the show is open until 31.7.2022.

There are two new blog posts by Ulla Roth and Elissavet Hasse on their experiences in the Noguchi show that you can have a look at on my ArtTalks.de site. Plus there are lots of awesome new pictures by our “in-house” photographer Anke Kellerwessel - even some with my eyes open! Thanks for your contributions💕

Some of you have asked for an ArtTalk in the Wallraf-Richartz museum. I’d love to go to the Wallraf again! But the modern art department located in the 3. floor is closed due to water damage. Our next ArtTalks will take place on the long Thursday September 1, in the Museum Ludwig with a really different topic.

Here is a teaser text of what I’m planning.

Artists and Overcoming the Odds
What can we learn about resilience from artists

A selection of artists chosen from Museum Ludwig’s huge variety of styles and genres.

How did now-famous artists like Franz Marc and others such as Emil Nolde, Max Beckmann or Jackson Pollack cope with life’s ups and downs while remaining true to their artistic vision 💫 How did and do artists find the courage to keep on painting, sculpting and creating in face of huge challenges? Do artists have more grit 😉 What are the keys to continuing to trust your abilities and keep on going?

An interactive ArtTalk to invite reflection and engagement while strolling through the galleries of Museum Ludwig’s display of world-class art.

I’ll send an ArtTalk reminder closer to the date and with more details.

I wish you a lovely summer holiday adventure 🚤 or a relaxing vacation 🏝️  – whatever is right for you!

Artful wishes,
Karla
