We all know that sex is a powerful force in our lives. Indeed, there are social movements that have tapped into these energies as a driving force. Surrealism is one of these artistic movements; not only strong eroticism but also dream imagery and the use of new, unconventional means to get at the unconscious play major roles in inspiring the artist to create. There are some excellent examples of work by Salvador Dali, Max Ernst and Hans Arp in Museum Ludwig.
