“Maria  Lassnig – Inside Outside”

Museum Ludwig

Body – Art – Carnal Awareness : Maria Lassnig and her concepts of body – felt from the inside – take center stage at the next ArtTalk. This Austrian grande dame of modern art expresses with humor – often sarcastic and dark – her  bizarre world of things and everyday objects morphed with images of herself. Obsessive self-portraits are a constant  theme in her repertoire and here in Museum Ludwig they are painted or drawn on paper with grandiose ease, skill and verve. Yet the grotesque and confrontational elements challenge  conventional viewing habits. The intimate new works by the 90 (!) year old Maria Lassnig, lend themselves to experiments in creative text writing and post-feministic reflection – just two topics which I ´d like to explore with you at the next ArtTalk in Museum Ludwig on April 2!
