Art and Media
Museum Ludwig
Today´s artists can reach for a camera instead of paint brushes to create expressions of social and individual commentary, reflection and beauty. Technological developments since the invention of the portable video camera have made it easy for artists to explore this media – now, digital reproduction is the norm. Both video and digital art has become an accepted and collected art form. Two young video artists – Erik van Lieshout and Jonathan Horowitz will engage us with their critical and provocative views; the first, on the business of art –(Lieshout actually slept in Museum Ludwig to film!) and the other video on environmental destruction using Hollywood film footage. Each video is 20 minutes long and will certainly provide much food for thought and discussion.
