Hallo ArtTalkers,
🎨 Join us on June 6th as we explore the compelling works of US artist Roni Horn in a new comprehensive survey in Museum Ludwig, Cologne! 📅
The exhibition, curated by museum director Yilmaz Dziewior, will show Horn’s outstanding and diverse oeuvre from the beginning of her career in the late 1970’s to the present day.
Roni Horn is an influential American visual artist and writer. The granddaughter of Eastern European immigrants, she was born in New York City, where she lives and works. Known for her exploration of identity, place, and language, Horn’s art challenges perceptions and invites contemplation.
Horn has been intimately involved with the singular geography, geology, climate and culture of Iceland. She first traveled to Iceland in the 1970s. Since her first encounter with the island as a young arts graduate visiting on a fellowship from Yale, Horn has returned to Iceland frequently. Horn’s pieces like “Library of Water,” which explores the intersection of language and landscape, and “You Are the Weather,” mesmerizing with its meditative photographs capturing Iceland’s changing and unique weather patterns. 🌊 🌦️
🖼️ Based in New York City and Reykjavik, Horn’s artistic vision is one of a global citizen; her photography, prize winning artists’ books and installations captivate audiences worldwide. Her works are prominently displayed in prestigious institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, as well as the Tate Modern in London. 🏛️
